This isn't my kind of film so I admired rather than enjoyed it. It's beautifully played, especially by the wondrous Kristin Scott Thomas, one of the Britain's most underrated actors. Writer/director Phllippe Claudel keeps it real - just as you feel it's about to veer off into cliched melodrama it instead continues along the straight and narrow, eventually getting to the heart of the matter. I found the ending unsatisfactory, though without negating anything that had gone before. And just how many quality adult films are there with two women in the lead?

Scott Thomas undoubtedly gives a raw performance of a self-imposed prisoner slowly unlocking her own cell. But it is also fairly sleepy and ends up being one more movie that treats euthanasia sympathetically.

Wow, words can't describe how good this movie was. It tackles several hard to deal with issues: murder, suicide, rejection from family, re-entering society, and all the complex emotions that go along with it. While the movie was infused with humor, it still was a tearjerker. Recommended, if not for the great performance by Kristen Scott Thomas, who gets better with each movie.
