Dig deeper is a command and plea to any self respecting watcher that desires brain stimulation! Do you know what you are seeing here?!? This is the holy perfection of crime, horror, and science fiction rolled into one perfect burrito of god-like direction, although there is no real god, through the crafty hands of Sir Ridley Scott- bitches!

I'm absolutely stunned by this movie. Let me check the box-office records...OMG..from an $11 million budget cost, the movie grossed close to $105 million! SciFi movies like this capitalize on outer space explorations and upon their return to earth...guess what...illegal aliens! Makes me detest the fact that once they refer to me as a Permanent Alien Resident. Thank God, they've changed it now to PERMANENT GREEN CARD HOLDER. Anyway, going back to the movie...go watch it!

Just rewatched this masterpiece, and... I can't say how amazed I'm. I forgot tons of filmming style details such as handheld camera by R Scott and stuff. The movie is truly a craftwork of horror-sci fi. If you're gonna see it for the first time, remember is 30 years old. Amazing.

Its all in the sounds. The suspense, the drama, the action, the horror, all locked up inside the audio. It's a claustrophobic nightmare but one that proves to be addictive and rewatchable. Whether or not its better than its sequel, that debate could go on and on, but this is the more pure of the two. A Classic!

As someone who hates horror movies this is an absolute must see movie. I call it sci-fi suspense . . . thats code for horror I can stand. The story is great and no matter how many times I watch I still jump. Sigourney Weaver is amazing in this. In fact the entire cast is great. Like I said a must see.

Hey there drudgees! Have you been good or are you awaiting an unbridled new vision for the stalker flick? Well then bat-smoochies, here ya' go! Alien is a stalker film in a Halloween costume much like Star Wars is a fantasy sword flick with laser substitutes. And ooooooh is that dinner sequence epic! Sigourney delivers in a big way and if you're a proper gent you'll let a few dated special effects slip (they let them slip in Gladiator and Terminator so why not here me protests?!?). Lastly, it's rare that a horror piece can tackle sensitive subjects like rape and unwanted pregnancies without getting silly and preachy, neither of which Alien ever does.

Action: 3/3 + Comedy: 1/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 1/1 + Special Effects: 1/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 = 9/10 or 90%. An embodiment of horrific fears: rape, stalking, assault, murder- just to name a few. Add to those the element of the unknown and we have the terrifying enemy of the mother of all things extra-terrestrial in cinema. The cast is strong, as is the plot, and for once the horror and sci-fi genres mix to perfection. Oh, lest we forget, Sigourney Weaver qualifies herself as the queen of badasses.

Awesome Sci Fi / Horror movie...great suspense and Ridley Scott just did a fantastic job directing. The sets are fantastic and the movie is edge of your seat. This flick scared me as a child and made me turn on the lights.

People, let's get this straight. This is one of the greatest sci-fi/horror movies ever made. The perfect cast, incredible design, right measure of suspense... The monster is rarely seen and it is quick, deadly and intelligent for the first time. A perfect killing machine with only one goal. Claustrophobic atmosphere of no escape contributes a lot. Some critics mentioned "Planet of the Vampires" by Mario Bava as a major influence. Personally, I find it interesting that Veronica Cartwright (Lambert) played a little girl in Hitchcock's "Birds". All the sequels are good in their own way, but this one is a masterpiece of a true master, Ridley Scott.
