The film is entertaining, but nothing special here. The alien spacecraft look real, that was cool! The story was too long for me. to much of the same things going on throughout the movie. I would recommend watching it once.

Putting the gory in allegory, "District 9" turns a B-movie camp premise into modern body horror classic that parallels first contact and government response to alien invasion with xenophobia, apartheid, and militarized relocation.

This movie was intense throughout. The effects were amazing and so were all the characters. With social commentar throughout, this movie provided, action, suspense, sadness, happiness, and all around craziness. Strangely believable on so many levels. This movie is a MUST see for all. This is not your average Sci-Fi Movie.

Although the thinly veiled allegory for apartheid is at times preachy, the sci-fi post-apocalyptic world crafted here is unique and richly realized. First-time actor Sharlto Copley is impressive and the film manages to remain exciting, while, at the same time, touching on interesting themes not often found in the sci-fi genre.

The glee of the bureacrat finding non-conformance makes this movie. Ignore the less than subtle South African slum morality tale and one can enjoy this film. Sci-fi fans should be grateful for this one. It combines humor, action, romance, explosions and satisfying machine gun fire into a tight, unified package. I did not catch myself checking my watch once.

Enjoyed this much more than I thought I would do, original and different in every kind of way. I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan but this one is special!

This movie was amazing for an alien apartheid mockumentary film. The acting was good from the two main leads. The story of a father trying to get him and his son home to their home planet is actually emotionally appealing considering the father is a freaky cock roach looking alien thing. The transformation of the main character from human to alien is also done amazingly well and you can actually sympathize with him losing everyone he knows due to their disgust that he is becoming essentially a freak in their eyes. It was a very entertaining movie.

Exceptional Science fiction movie with a unique take on the alien invasion of Earth scenario. Unashamedly borrowing ideas from a number of Sci Fi classics, District 9 is still highly original and deliriously innovative. Hardly subtle and with a certain political agenda, this film has electric pacing, genuine inventiveness and a core performance from Sharlto Copley which is second to none. A revelation that is both incredibly entertaining and morally thought provoking.
