What a huge disappointment. It gets points, though, for being anti-war. But, that's it.

I haven't see the original, only the "Redux" version, but it's ok at best. It's not so much a war movie but a psychological thriller about the madness of war and what it can do to the human psyche.

Possibly the greatest war movie ever made. It fully depicts the all the emotional and psychological effects of war and not just the physical. A haunting and beautiful movie, better than the Godfather.

While being more about madness and paranoia than the Vietnam war, Apocalypse Now still stands as probably the best fictional movie concerning Vietnam ever made. To me this is Coppolas true masterpiece even above the Godfather. A career best for Martin Sheen and a great cast all around. It's pretty sad to say that Marlon Brando is the worst part of the movie. He doesn't ruin the normal cut of the film but in the Redux he gets a bit more screen time and kind of slows down the whole affair. If you've never seen Apocalypse Now then definitely watch the original 2 and a half hour cut as opposed to the 3 and a half hour Redux. Then if you like the first cut check out the Redux. I love both versions but the original flows better.

The Heart of Darkness set in Vietnam makes for a dark, unforgettable journey. It will leave you shaken the first time you see it, as it should. The sheer amount of work that went into making this film comes across loud and clear on screen.

A great war movie which puts you as the viewer in Vietnam. I love how the whole movie is based on one mission, but from that you understand what vietnam was like for both the US and the Vietnamese. (stat away from the redux, as it is too long and unneccesary)
