Life is but a dream

I just got back from seeing Inception a second time and I must say it truly is a magnificent work of art. Let me say I have seen movies with equal and better usage of effects and there have movies with better acting but none that combine all elements to create the essentially the perfect summer blockbuster.
Let me start with Effects. Christopher Nolan is a genius with effects. Batman Begins had great effects like the fire in the ninja temple and the train explosion. Also the Dark Knight was filled with great effects which included the explosions of the Prison, The locations where Dawes and Dent where being held, and the Hospital where dent was taken after the accident. Inception had probably the best effects yet in a Nolan movie at least to myself. How Nolan manages to combine …

What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.

“What's the most resilient parasite? An Idea.” In this quote, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Cobb is speaking about the implantation of ideas in the human mind, although it could well be “Inception” director, Christopher Nolan describing his journey with his new masterpiece. Nolan approached Warner Bros with the idea for “Inception” first back in 2002 without a script, but even without this, both he and Warner Bros knew what they had in their hands. From this idea grew the larger than life and mind-blowing “Inception” which has only just been released now in July 2010. It has well been worth the wait. Nolan could well be one of the best directors of our time. He pushes everything to the limit in this film and every little detail is sewn up tightly and with the greatest …

A joint or Inception? Surely...Inception!!!!!!!!!!

A movie these day seldom makes one think about it once we exit the theatre hall. This one does. And never does any movie makes its viewer go back through the reels while in the hall this many times. Yes, this is by far the most intellectual film I have ever seen. Story is very simple. It is about an extraction master who needs to do the exact opposite of his profession: Plant an idea in a person's mind to bring about a favorable result for his client. What follows is a heist thriller that is complex, thrilling, and high on steroids. It is like a web. It is very easy to get entangled and create a mess in your mind. But Nolan has executed the order of scenes in such a manner that the viewer gets enlightened slow and steady. It is like sitting in a class where one gets taught the basics …

The Dream is real
The Film Rebel - wrote on 07/20/2010
Christopher Nolan is a man whom I have had the upmost respect for quite some time. Memento is my favorite film by him. Memento is a brilliant noir thriller with one of the most creative story lines ever. Following Memento is The Dark Knight. TDK is easily the greatest comic book movie ever made and really pushed the boundaries of what a good comic book film really is. And other Nolan movies like Insomnia, The Prestige, and Following merely prove my point even more. Nolan is the Hitchcock of our time and Inception is but another testament to his awesomeness.
Inception takes place in a futuristic world where technology has come so far that we can now access other people's dreams through these strange machines. That's where our main character comes into play. Dom Cobb is an extractor. …

The Debateable Ending
JMMK - wrote on 07/20/2010
Thought this was an excellent movie, but I guess it all depends on your taste. It has action, suspense, but at times I got a little irretable in my seat waiting for things to happen, but maybe that's because I was tired and it was a midnight show.
Spoiler Alert!!! Ok, rather than get in to details about the movie itself, I'd like to tackle the debateable ending of the movie. Atleast for me this is quite simple, but I may be wrong. If it were still a dream then the "top" would have still kept spinning right??? If it were reality it would have stopped right??? Ok, well if you pay close attention to the object spinning, one or two times it appears to wobble as if losing momentum, which leads me to believe it it reality....if it was a dream, it would not have wobbled.

No, Its Not Better Than The Matrix

Not that often do movies come along that are hyped as high as incpetion but also deliver as much. Avatar immediately comes to mind (though this is better), but there have been others as well.
Inception is not as good as The Matrix, and may not even be better than Dark City or some of the other recent sci fi films. But, make no mistake, this is one of the best movies of the last 5 yeras (if not the best). For me personally, it is the best movie I have seen since Minority Report or The Aviator. And, it may be better than those with time. Now I love Sci Fi, so my opinion is slightly biased.
I don't need to touch on a whole lot of points with this movie. The acting was good - Leo was awesome as usual but so was Joseph Gordon Levitt who has matured into a top notch actor. Yes he can do …
