Michel Gondry is the master of all things visual. Unfortunately, when it comes to writing he is incredibly weak. He needs to find another Charlie Kaufman. My mother and I both agreed that it took about 40 minutes for the story to get started, which is WAY too long. But once the movie got going, it couldn't stop. Soon you'll be wishing that all your favorite movies are "sweded". And too bad they didn't show the sweded version of Last Tango in Paris. That would have been interesting.

So slow. I tried hard to keep with the movie, but the acting and dialog were dull and the story was misplaced. Though I like the idea of the movie, I was there to laugh, not be be "touched" by sentimental moments and humor that was too spread out. Jack Black seemed to try to hard and Mos Def (though I liked his character) was too dull to keep things moving along. Don't bother with this one in the theatre.

What a waste, the concept was ripe for humor and I didn't find any of the spoofs funny, actually none of the comedy worked, it was painful to sit through. The characters were also awfully uninteresting and it was hard to sympathize with these idiots. Maybe Gondry should just stick to directing and let the real screenwriters write because this movie and his last one, The Science Of Sleep just weren't very good.
