Jodie Foster tries her hand in being Travis Bickle of Taxi Driver. Erica Bain (Foster) tries to avenge the death of her fiancée David. Slowly but surely, she tries to eliminate the wrong doers and reuniting with her dog. If only the score, cinematography and script was better, then it would have been more recognized. Foster's intense performance never disappoints, unfortunately a single screen legend cannot lift the pictures dark theme. It was entertaining but not really for repeat viewings.

What a strange film. Well directed, beautifully performed and yet ludicrous. Even if you accept the extremely dubious premise, the poor sense of logic and detail completely skewer the moral message the script attempts to deliver. You have to wonder what Jodie Foster is doing in a film like this, which is essentially a posh version of Death Wish. To her credit she performs like a real trouper as does Terence Howard. Backstage, Neil Jordan directs with a seriousness at odds with the material.

An engrossing moral thriller made convincing by Foster's dedicated performance of a pushover turned vigilante. Final Grade: B

Um, yeah, why did I get this? Jodie Foster was alright. The attack was brutal, but what were they doing at the park (in the dark)? Kind of stupid. They could have at least brought mace along if they were going to be so stupid. However, not altogether worthless.

A decent revenge drama with Jodie Foster in full-on Ripley mode. It wants to spark a debate about violence and justice, but it's mainly a showcase of Foster kicking butt and looking cold. A good effort that falls short.

Jodie Foster never lets me down. I thought this film was gripping because it blurs the line between good and evil. The best scenes present themselves when nothing is going on, when everything is silent and we observe Jodie Foster's character cope with the death of her lover. I say kudos to the director for showing us awkward camera angles whenever Foster is in pain, in trouble, and suffering. I thought the ending was justified and it elevated the movie to a new level because it tried to do something different than other revenge movies out there. Although Foster doesn't release too many movies, her repertoire is amazing because each one is as delicious as this piece of art.

There's a couple different ways to approach this movie. If you're looking for something socially relevant, keep looking. If you're looking for Jodie Foster to shoot a bunch of people, then this one's for you. The premise is interesting enough and the film is full of great actors doing the best they can. Unfortunately the movie sometimes becomes a tad unbelieveable. Sometimes the dialogue just makes you want to cringe. Despite all of this, Foster's performance really saved it for me as I thought she was pretty strong. If you can get past all the inadequacies it's an enjoyable 2 hours...just be prepared for an ending that's a bit over the top.
