Review: Iron Man 3

Even if Iron Man 3 can't quite exceed last year's The Avengers or even the first Iron Man film, it still kicks off the summer movie season with a fantastic bang. Everything you'd expect in an Iron Man film is here - the great sense of humor, the breathtaking action, and the charismatic performance by Robert Downey Jr. - as well as a few turns and plot surprises that makes for a much more entertaining film and engaging look at the darker and personal parts of Tony Stark.
The film is directed and co-written by Shane Black, who is mostly known for making fun action films, including Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Lethal Weapon. What he brings to the table here is certainly rather different and unique when compared to the previous Iron Man movies. It gets darker and it gets personal. It's devoid …

Iron Man Soars Again

I have to hand it to Robert Downey Jr. - he is the snarky heart and ego-tastic soul of Iron Man and without him, I don't know how this franchise would have succeeded. The second film felt like a step down after the rocking roller-coaster ride the first film gave us. The Avengers proved Mr. Stark worked just as well with an ensemble as alone. Now Iron Man 3 comes around and I'm happy to say, the groove is back.
Iron Man 3 does a lot right - it has great action pieces, the trademark comedy (and attitude) that Downey Jr. brings to the role and even manages to give Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow some exposition. The biggest surprise in the cast was that Ben Kingsley manged to play both a fantastic villain and, not to spoil anything - a surprising turn that made the role even better. Guy …

It’s incredibly flawed, but it’s a lot of fun

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, the guy who wrote and directed Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, and has most of the flaws of that film along with a good chunk of the other Marvel films flaws as well.
Much like last years the Avengers this film tried to do a lot of cool things with it’s plot and characters, but didn’t have the talent to pull it off. Shane Black takes a lot of risks in Iron Man 3, and they work Individualy, but Shane Black never brings them together, and the third act sort of devolves instead of evolving like a third act should. The movie creates an interesting message with the villains motivation and it’s parallel to Tony’s PTSD, but downgrades into black and white morals and quick-fixes.
I’ll give this to Shane Black: he tries a lot of fun stuff that I …

My View: Iron Man 3 (2013 ) PG-13 Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) is obsessed with building more of his Iron Man suits, however they are causing him sleepiness nights and are straining the relationship with his girlfriend, Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow). A new villain, named Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), is suddenly attacking the U.S. and is hell-bent on destroying everything Tony holds dear, including Pepper. Iron Man has done it before, but can he come back from the brink of destruction once more? I enjoyed this film more than Iron Man 2, as I felt the action sequences were well done and exciting. The chemistry of Downey and Paltrow from the earlier films is still there and working. What I didn’t like about the film is that all through the film, Tony Stark is making quips, and that …
