21 Jump Street is a Ton of fun

The gross out comedy bromance has pretty much become its own genre at this point, and its formula is precise. Movies like this usually have two male leads and the two are friends until something comes between them, but at the end they’re friends again. It was great in Superbad, but in recent years it’s gotten a little bit tiresome.
21 Jump Street, I’m happy to say, is able to separate itself apart from most entries in the genre by adding a crime caper and some genuinely hilarious moments in the mix. Sure the bromance breaks up and then re-unites like all the other movies of this kind, but “21” does a good job of making sure the drama services the characters and their journeys.
The crime thriller aspect that keeps the pace of the film from getting laggy improves the …

Schmidt and Jenko are two individuals who unlikely become partners. They finished high school together and helped each other out to graduate and became police officers. They are tasked to go undercover to a high school to catch the supplier of a drug, and that means, them pretending students again and they have to blend in with these school kids.

I was prepared that this movie would be so awesome and very cool! But when I was actually seeing the movie, yeah, I wasn't prepared enough. The film was indeed a good mix of comedy and action. Tatum and HIll definitely have this charisma doing comedy. Honestly, I knew Hill would do so much good in this, BUT Tatum, I was surprised that he can do such good comedy performance!
What made it awesomer was Johnny Depp playing a character …

"You know what they do to handsome guy like me in prison. It Rhymes with GRAPE. It Rhymes with grape"
A couple of inept rookie cops -- chubby dork Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and a dimwitted muscular jock Jenko (Channing Tatum) are given an assignment by their straight talking Captain Dickson (Ice Cube embracing his role of the stereotypical angry black guy), to go undercover as teenagers (since they are both young-looking) to investigate the explosion of designer drugs called HFS in their high school. Their mission is to arrest the supplier and try their best to stop the spread of the drugs. Enrolled as brothers the pair soon discovers that high school has changed a lot in seven years. When Schmidt and Jenko had originally attended high school, Schmidt was the nerd and Jenko the cool prom …

Jumping Good Time

The new release from Sony pictures, ’21 Jump Street’ is a comedic take on the original TV series of the same name. The premise of this film follows the same concept as the TV show, using undercover cops that pose as high school students to combat crime in the school system. However, the movie version is played strictly for laughs. If you enjoyed the previews for this, then you’ll most likely enjoy the rest of it. ’21 Jump Street’ manages to poke fun at everything from a Korean Jesus to the TV show ‘Glee’.
The film stars Jonah Hill, who seems to be everywhere these days after first getting a lot of attention in ‘Superbad’. He’s since stayed on a roll with ‘The Sitter’, ‘Get Him To The Greek’, and ‘Money Ball’ (for which he scored an Oscar nomination for …

21 Jump Street review

Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) are former batch-mates in highschool who end up being partners in a police department. Morton is the insecure geek who couldn't get a date in the prom while Greg is the popular good looking student. Their fates would be reversed when they enter 21 Jump Street, after being assigned by Captain Dickson (Ice Cube). Soundtrack was upbeat and action was relentless. The flick reminded me of Hot Fuzz, only with more sappy moments. Ice Cube was hilarious in his role while Jonah Hill's character was wimpy but funnier than Tatum's. Screenplay was descent and cameos were a surprise since I never knew the actual casts involved. Growing up watching the TV show, this reviewer remembered the well written stories. This was simple, had a …

I wanna be a cop, now.

21 Jump Street was awesome!! The chemistry between Jonah Hill's character and Channing Tatum's character was great and they both delivered hysterical performances. These two guys seriously had me dying of laughter. Ice Cube is also first rate and very funny as Dickson, delivering some very unexpected laughs. The first half is basically a montage of comedic gold. There's a very funny scene in the beginning involving Hill and Tatum on bikes chasing some criminals which get some of the biggest laughs in the entire first half. While the second half unfortunately falls under typical buddy-comedy cliches and became a bit of an action movie, I went along with it because of how much I liked the characters and their terrific interaction. This was just a well made buddy comedy with great …

Sly, Satirical, and A Lot of Fun

21 Jump Street is a pleasant surprise - a comedy that knows exactly what it wants to be and tugs at the funnybone and the heart at the right moments. The film is silly and ridiculous, but clearly intends to be so and the way it maintains a reverence for the original series, while simultaneously lampooning the idea of a remake is great to see. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum share a genuine buddy comedy bond that makes their improv-heavy scenes fun to watch and the film is actually very smart in the way it takes shots at the way youth culture has changed since the original series aired. The film is very funny at parts (particularly the sequence where Tatum and Hill are first under the influence of a new drug) and there are two awesome cameos towards the conclusion that are worth waiting …
