An exciting and successful teen adventure

Thomas: "We get out now or we die trying."
Minho: "You don't get it. We're already dead."
"The Maze Runner" is just like its predecessors "Twilight", "The Giver","Divergent" and "The Hunger Games" an adaptation of a book. The same ingredients are present as in the above-mentioned films : a post-apocalyptic world where young people play a key role. A world where society is organized in a new democratic or non-democratic way. In "The Giver" human feelings were suppressed in order to ensure a peaceful existence and people are divided into so-called "factions". In "The Hunger Games" there are districts with the Capitol as an overarching body that organizes the Hunger Games annually. Also in "Snowpiercer" we see an example of a dystopian world with a particular social classification …

Better than the hunger games. creatures and teens
smeagol - wrote on 11/28/2014
Another movie that has that hunger games kind of theme. its about a community of teens who have been sent to this maze one by one over time and have no memory of their past lives all they remember is their names. they cant escape as the only way out is through the forever changing maze which is guarded by creatures that hunt them., all changes when thomas turns up and refuses to give up finding a way out.
i really enjoyed this. when it ends it makes you want to watch the 2nd one just to see what happens next. also unlike the hunger games and others where no one actually dies or rarely . this movie is much more real where people die and theres a real threat with the creatures .and also there's no silly romance , though a girl does turn up and i'm sure the romance will start in the …

"Temple Run Movie"
Rod - wrote on 09/28/2014
The plot is good in general, but the substance lacks that viewers would look for something more than just a group of people trapped in a place not knowing what to do next but run in a dangerous and fatal huge maze. I also thought that the film has no focus. Things are half-baked, more questions than answers even on its conclusion. In the end, as if it did not give anything to the viewers but the things they've already seen in its trailer. How they managed to survive? Where do they get their food? Is it all just a social-scientific experiment? To what? What they want to happen in the end? These are questions I had on my mind while watching it in a cinema sitting beside a friend who called this film as a "Temple Run Movie" Lastly, we complained a lot on the dark visuals especially in …

No Ladders?

Ladders. Ladders are a aeries of ancient and ingenious tools that have existed for hundreds and hundreds of years. They are a simple and efficient means of getting from a place of lower altitude to one of higher altitude with little effort. They are not as easy to use as elevators, but they are quite handy in scenarios where only a small distance needs to be climbed, or when an elevator is not readily available.
Ladders are the first things I thought of when I saw the trailers for The Maze Runner, and I spent the entire duration of the film waiting for them to make an appearance. Their awaited appearance, unfortunately, never arrived. The Maze Runner maze has no ceiling, it only looks like it’s a few stories high. The maze’s residence themselves have been trapped within its …

Lots of Running

I don't like being the person who automatically says: "The book was better". But in this case it's the truth. Not to say that the film is a bad adaptation. It's good in some areas. The mystery stays intact. The action is mildly exciting. The minor plot changes compliment the swift pace. Though, the pace is actually way too swift. We don't get near enough time with the characters. We become less involved with their personal struggle. A longer runtime could've helped. Some crucial story omissions are sorely missed. Some important explanations are gone. Those not familiar with the material will be lost in some scenes. It also shares the same predictable ending as the novel, which didn't bother me as much having expected it. It's a real mixed effort. The more I thought about …

Matinee film.
Matthew Brady - wrote on 09/18/2014
Is it just me or Dylan O'Brien looks a bit like me. The movie is about the main character of the film wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. This movie started off pretty good with the opening scene, but then the movie turns into a rip-off of other franchise. The acting was pretty good in the movie and the characters are fine, but the ending has to be the worst ending that I have seen this year. Overall the maze runner is a matinee film with some problems, but a movie is never perfect.
