Memo to Warner Brothers...
STOP MAKING EVERYTHING INTO HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean seriously, the movie comes right out of the playbook for their Harry Potter formula and all the ripoffs that tried to cash in on it. Let's go over things shall we?
1) Crappy childhood? Check
2) Meteoric rise thanks to a convenient prophecy? Check
3) Fantasy realm that cannot be accessed by ordinary humans? Check.
4) Sidekick who's rough around the edges and can't talk to women? Check.
5) Nasty villain trying to become immortal and invincible? Check.
It's worse than Harry Potter though. Pan rips off every other epic fantasy/adventure/whatever that used the same plot devices but good god does Pan suck at it! Think Indiana Jones meets Hook meets Avatar meets …

Pirat Blackbeard …

"Have you come to kill me, Peter? I don't believe in bedtime stories."
Occasionally I don't mind watching a film adaptation of a fairy tale. I liked the movie "Hook" with Robin Williams in the role of an adult Peter Pan who forgot what it was like in his childhood, a lot. An original alternative to the classic tale of Peter Pan, the boy who never wants to grow up and has exciting adventures on the island of Neverland. "Pan" approaches the story of Peter in a different perspective. It's more about the pre-Peter Pan era where we see him at first as a newborn little baby, abandoned at an orphanage, guided by a gang of nuns who clearly skipped the chapters about charity and compassion in the Bible. The orphanage looks more like a concentration camp where all those little fellows have to …

A Peter Pan Prequel That Fails to Entertain

Going into the movie, I wasn't expecting much from Pan. I feel that telling a story about Peter Pan, even if it is an origin story, does feel a little weak. But the more I think about it, the more I feel that a story like that could put in some fresh air. Unfortunately, it felt like this movie has done everything that it can to not be a good movie, which is a shame because I feel that there are some people who I feel are actually trying in what ultimately is a failed project. The story, obviously, is about how Peter Pan came to Neverland and became the person we all know and love. I will give the movie this there are moments where I felt actually did work. There are some settings that looked pretty cool and I feel that the actor who played the titular character, Levi Miller, could …

An Odd Failure

'Pan' is the unnecessary origin story of the beloved fantasy character Peter Pan. There's much room for creative output... and the filmmakers wasted all of that space. This story just flat out sucks! Peter begins as an orphan in England during WWI. He is then abducted into Neverland where he meets other characters from his original story for the first time. They are all miscast and overacted. They continuously run from pirates, led by Jackman's awful Blackbeard, and the most fake looking CG creations I've seen in a big-budget production since the beginning of the 2000's. The entire movie looks green screen'ed. This lame adventure covers the same ground seen in ANY fantasy film ever and it accomplishes very little by the end. The only purpose this film seems to have is for the …

Pan - Movie Review

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit in a Peter Pan movie? What the f**k!.
The story is about a young orphan boy finds himself taken to the magical world known as Neverland. Trouble and adventure await the boy - a boy who will one day become the one and only Peter Pan.
So I've just seen Pan a few days ago and I was quite shocked of how bad this film was. This might be the most disappointing movie of the year for me, because Pan was my most anticipated movie of 2015... and it fails to live up to my exceptions.
Levi Miller did a decent job playing Peter Pan in the movie, I mean he's really trying here and I can see that from him. This is he's first big motion picture film and it really dose show. He didn't do a terrible performance like most kid actors, he did alright for what he had …
