I'm guessing the title of the film is a play on the Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome - as the women in the film do anything to get attention (from faking a lost child to something much more sinister). It will leave you guessing, however, on just what is going to happen next. A dark film for sure - the opening itself is hard to get through - and it will certainly leave an impression.

Even in spite of its slightly irritating "psycho lesbian" angle, Proxy is one hell of an unpredictable film, almost Hitchockian, a word rarely used in films these days. It's also strikingly well made and constantly has one guessing where its going. It's not flawless, but in a way, it's morbidly fascinating. The performances are strong across the board. Zack Parker, with his violently beautiful visuals and strong control of mis en scene, is a director to watch. There is a LOT to process here, but it's one of the most twisty, twisted, and quite original indie films to come along in a while. Also, the ending is quite brilliant. (Not Rated- contains graphic violence and gore, strong sexual content, nudity, and language)
