Such a waste for talented artists as Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth and Parker Posey. The costume looks gay, plot was nothing special and why add a twist in the end with a kid? To make it a new franchise? To cash in on a legendary DC character rivaled by Batman alone? Surprising how this was executed coming from a director who created the X-Men franchise? Was he trying to purposely sabotage this originally charming humane hero? Only time will tell if another Superman flick comes out. I felt they were trying too hard on this movie because of the innumerable expectations. Effects and supporting cast was the only thing worth enjoying in Superman Returns...which in my opinion could have left the original alone.

Lois Lane in peril! Oh, no...but wait! Superman appears at the last minute and saves her! But dastardly Lex Luther plots an evil scheme...superman blows out some fires and flies around catching falling signs/foiling bank robberys. But wait! Lex has kryptonite and defeats Supes. But Lois saves him and he returns to save the day! Hoorah! Any of this sounding familiar...? The Superman franchise has been so ubiquitous since the original films that EVERYTHING has been done. There is not ONE original idea on display here...even the one interesting plot twist is telegraphed a few minutes before it happens. The cast are bland and characterless (Routh seems to be doing a half-arsed impersonation of Christopher Reeve during the entire film) and Spacey lacks the larger than life charisma that …

Superman returns poorly

A film that is filled with problems but still is not nearly as bad as some superhero slop like Fantastic four for example. The problems are clear and confusing since they are so obvious you think someone would have said something. One problem is it is blatantly too long. It goes on after the climax, even though it should have already ended. The biggest problem the one I do not see how any one saw was the problems of the character of superman. The actor does a fairly okay job. He is not Christopher Reeve who hit the right notes as Superman, The real Clark, and the fake bumbling Clark. As the real Clark he is okay nothing special, fake Clark is his best properly bumbling not quite as right on as Reeve though and as Superman he plays too seriously acting as if he is unaware of his super …

Five years ago, "Superman" (Brandon Routh) left Earth to find the remains of his home planet, "Krypton". He returns to his adopted home, which has changed.

The first change is that his archenemy, the evil genius "Lex Luthor" (Kevin Spacey). The other, which has truely affected "The Man of Steel", is that the love of his life, "Lois Lane" (Kate Bosworth) is now a mother, and about to marry her boyfriend, "Richard" (James Marshden), the handsome nephew of "Daily Planet" Editor-in-Chief "Perry White" (Frank Langella).

However, one thing hasn't changed. "Luthor" is up to his old tricks, as he has a plan that will use "Kryptonian" technology which will kill billions of people. And to make things worse, he may have a way to destroy "Superman" once and for all.

The first thing you …
