A semi-autobiographical tale that is strikingly beautiful, both visually and emotionally. If I could define this film by any word, it would be freedom. This film is evidence that great storytelling is, at heart, visual.

Muss ein Film ausstrahlen, wieviel Spass die Macher dabei hatten, ihn zu drehen? Oder ist es wichtig, dass wir die Qualen nachvollziehen, die es bereiteten, dieses Werk fertigzustellen? Für mich lautet die Antwort: Zwei Mal deutlich NEIN!! Francois Truffauts Les quatre cents coups ist einer der gefühlvollsten, mitreissendsten, bewegendsten, wundervollsten Filme über das Heranwachsen, die je gemacht wurde! Inspiriert durch Truffauts eigene Adoleszenz, sehen wir einen Jungen, der sich in den Strassen von Paris herumtreibt und ziemlich offen dafür ist, auf die schiefe Bahn zu geraten. Sourpuss is the nickname given to the teacher of a class where the boys mock him during class. Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud) has a cynical cheating mother with an optimistic father who cares for his son. Subjects of parenting, survival, fidelity, juvenile delinquents, future circumstances of a location, friendship, trust and improper education were tackled throughout the well-directed film. Score was delightful and direction was fluid to keep the viewer glued to the screen. Humor was really funny and character development was detailed and clear to keep you engaged throughout the movie.
If it weren’t for the sincere acting of Jean-Pierre Léaud and vivid direction this picture would have not been effective and entertaining. Cinematography was superb from the myriad of …
