Fairly lackluster viewing, considering all of the accolades. I wasn't involved with this romance at all. There's not much else to say. Didn't care much for this one.

I love this movie, although I haven't read the book I get the impression it's probably not all that close. Olivier is just lovely to watch (forgive me I'm still a girl) the music is melodic and sad, much like the story. it's a lovely old film that tells how one can be destroyed when love is denied.

A very old timey romance drama. The film is okay and has its moments for sure but it is nothing that is overly great. The overall story is somewhat interesting but not overly so and the characters are fairly well drawn. The problems with the film result mostly from the bookends which seem odd with its supernatural quality which came almost out of nowhere. Oscar Nominee Best Actor Laurence Olivier 4/5- Olivier is good as Heathcliff and does everything that is required for him to do in the film. Most of it just requires him to be cold though and that is what he is for the large part of it. The role does not seem to require too much from Olivier but what there is he does accomplish very well.
