One of the best movies I've ever seen! Susanne Bier has an unmatched ability to exhibit the true humanity of each of her characters. Not one appears contrived or stereotypical. I felt as though I was a voyeur eavesdropping on this family's unexpected circumstances. I urge the reader to avoid any reviews that include plot details on this film. It's initial vagueness is indeed intentional and each seemingly unnecessary scene contributes to it's unpredictability and ultimate revelation. The camerawork is artistic and interesting which only adds to the mystique of the plot. Though it is an emotionally packed drama this movie incites the viewer to the edge of their seat with suspense.

Jacob Petersen is India to assist in an orphanage. CEO Jørgen Hannson meets with Jacob to discuss the details of a possible donation to the orphanage. Jørgen then invites Jacob to her daughter's wedding, namely Anna's. Helene, Jørgen's wife, notices a familiar figure in the church. A realistic picture about love, sacrifice, fidelity, marriage, choices, and regret. Screenplay was good with lines from Jørgen - "But we can't control everything in the world." "Time should be well spent." and Anna - "You can't manipulate people like that." Score, cinematogprahy and direction were splendid, only reservations I had were the pacing in the beginning and somewhat late plot development to make the film interesting. Rolf Lassgård had an impressive performance, very touching and sincere. …
