"Cléo From 5 to 7" is considered one of the most influential films of the French New Wave. And with its dreamy style and free-form, convention-breaking approach to narrative it isn't hard to see why.

A wonderful movie. I don't usually buy DVDs, but with the music it's a movie that is to be enjoyed time and again. Corinne Marchand is excellent and so is the direction by Agnes Varda. there's a short film in the middle of the movie with Godard and Anna Karina for your amusement.

An diesem frühen Abend, in der Zeit zwischen fünf und sieben, wird Cleo die Ergebnisse ihres Tests vom Arzt bekommen. Cleo geht fest davon aus, dass der Bericht negativ sein wird, dass sie an Krebs erkrankt ist. Agnes Vardas Film dauert 90 Minuten lang. Sie wirken auf uns genauso nervenaufreibend wie auf Cleo. Vorweg sei eine Frage erlaubt: Wenn du die Grössen der Nouvelle Vague aufzählst - ist Varda unter ihnen? Oder vergisst du sie meistens? Ich hab mich dessen schuldig gemacht in der Vergangenheit, weil man immer die weiblichen Regisseure unterschlägt. Oder? Cléo de 5 à 7, Baujahr 1962, hat die Zeit überdauert.
