The Joys of Dracula (viewing, part two)

I liked this movie just as much as its predecessor, "Horror of Dracula", although at first I didn't think that I would. It shares the same lavish Hammer Films production values and is beautiful to watch. However, it starts out a little slower and I wasn't sure where it was headed.
But that potential liability turned into a huge asset. I realized it was a somewhat fresh story, the unfamiliar providing some interesting twists and turns. For example, if you don't know the story ahead of time, you aren't sure who the villains are going to turn out being. I mean, you don't feel much empathy for Baroness Meinster keeping her son chained in his room. But there must be a reason?
I guess there's more mystery in this movie, even if you know it's about vampires that have survived …
