Plot: The plot involves a scientist who is working on a a method of instantly transporting people across space. When he chooses to conduct his first human test on himself, there is literally a fly in the ointment. The transporter mixes up the scientist and a fly that is stowing away in the chamber, creating a monster mash-up: a human with the head and arm of a fly and a fly with the head and arm of a human! Sometimes campy, but always enjoyable, "The Fly" hasn't aged too badly, and stands out as a horror and science fiction classic with a message about using animals in research.

A smarter monster flick from the 50's. There are some good ideas and it doesn't fall on too many monster movie conventions. It also has one great scene with a spider and a memorable Vincent Price performance.

I watched "The Fly" with my kids as part of a project to prepare for the upcoming DreamWorks animated film "Monsters v Aliens".
"The Fly" is one of those classic B-movies from the 1950s. I had seen bits and pieces over the years, but I had never seen the entire movie. The plot involves a scientist who is working on a a method of instantly transporting people across space.
