As an experimental piece, this is an interesting combination of visual montage and thematic symbolism. I didn't connect with it as a story, but, taking each vignette as its own work of art, there are some really beautiful moments.

A useless string of images with no meaning. This 1 hour film took longer to pass than Lawrence of Arabia. Not as good as Un Chien Andalou and that's not saying much.

Golden Age, The ( age d'or, L')

One of the most controversial films of its era. You see a girl licking a foot of a statue and Christ being symbolized in an appropriate manner. Intent and messages were dark and symbolic. The scorpions gestures were a good sign utilized in the beginning to relate people with of animalistic behavior. However, not as entertaining despite its short length, though it was provocative. Purely experimental, though not for everybody. Lacks character development, vivid premise and a clear plot, since its images tell the story instead of a screenplay. It was short though it felt like an eternity waiting for the next scene to happen. The Golden Age has its good and bad points, overall its definitely a must watch for movie buffs who enjoy classic films that have been recognized as one one of …
