Though not in the same league as 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' and 'The Ladykillers (1955)', 'The Lavender Hill Mob', due mostly to an excellent script and a truly side-splitting finale, is still a treat.

This is a bank heist film that never is too serious about itself and succeeds because of that. The story is fairly standard but the characters of the main two robbers and their performances are what makes it good. The two performers being Alec Guinness and Stanley Holloway present you with the very much non standard robbers who never get violence or anything else involved. Its a fun film to watch and since the robbers are likable you actually can root for them to succeed. Best Actor Nomination Alec Guinness 4/5- A thoroughly enjoyable comedic performance from Alec Guinness. Now he does not do anything super technical as great acting but he is completely enjoyable to watch throughout and is very funny.
