The Crites smuggle themselves into a rundown L.A apartment block and once again create havoc. The second sequel to the mediocre horror comedy is notable only for the bizarre presence of Leonardo DiCaprio in a very early role. Otherwise it's very much business as usual in yet another tired rip off of Gremlins. Admittedly, the production value has improved with more characterful creature effects and the claustrophobic locations make for more scope for suspense, but the pedestrian direction and tired formula makes the film feel like a TV movie with little in the way of flair or imagination. Critters 3 is not unwatchable, but once again it's just not funny enough to justify its own existence. One for DiCaprio completists only.

The only reason why I watched this movie was to see DiCaprio on his first big film.
