Just a complete mess and utter waste of time. Nothing redeeming at all. The original wasn't great, but it went where movies hadn't before, it had engrossing stories at the least. This is just like, "What were they thinking?"

While the original Heavy Metal enjoys a certain cult status for its sex, drugs, violence and rock n roll - this follow up, while sticking with the violence and sex, but has a dull story and kind of crappy animation.

It had several storylines and animation styles. It was an original. Somebody must have said something like, "What would happen if we made a sequel that had even more of the stuff from the first movie?" And so they storyboarded and filmed and cast and did all the things to produce this ... thing. What they forgot to do was watch the original and see why that still stands on its own nearly 20 years later. The music is forgettable. The differing animation styles and the use of computer animation is far from seamless. In fact, it's jarring and distracting. And the characters are hardly interesting …
