Sharks on a sub!

The only way to get to the sub's nuclear reactor ls by going through a room filled with sharks. Let me repeat that: the only way to get to the sub's nuclear reactor is by going through a room FILLED WITH SHARKS. Apart from the obvious poor planning involved in such a layout (and mind you, the room full of sharks Is NOT intended as a security measure - that's apparently just where the sub's designers decided to put it), there's also this little issue... What exactly is the point of studying sharks on a submarine? I mean, experiments were conducted on the space shuttles and have been and continue to be conducted on the international space station because those places offer a unique environment not found on earth. But an aquarium on a sub is no different than an aquarium anywhere else. So …
