I will give this comic thriller points for creativity, but it's style and tone are so in-your-face assaulting that it screams out desperation and the director doesn't really know what to do with his cast, especially Rickman's terribly funny egomaniacal professor who is most entertaining and fades into the background after the first half to focus on the less interesting captive/kidnapper roles.
