After watching a preview for this movie, I really expected to like it but I ended up really hating it.What a major disappointment

I will give this comic thriller points for creativity, but it's style and tone are so in-your-face assaulting that it screams out desperation and the director doesn't really know what to do with his cast, especially Rickman's terribly funny egomaniacal professor who is most entertaining and fades into the background after the first half to focus on the less interesting captive/kidnapper roles. Does anyone ever want to see this much of Shawn Hatosy? Final Grade: C

Crazy is just a choice!

Alan Rickman is an arrogant and obnoxious genius whose family and co-workers tolerate him despite his pompousness. He has just been announced as the winner of the Nobel Prize for his stellar work in chemistry whereupon a man who may or may not be his illegitimate child, decides to kidnap the man's true son Barkley (Bryan Greenberg) for the two million dollar purse. Eliza Dushku stands out as the morbid poet and artist City Hall who slept with Barkley the evening before he is nabbed. Bill Pullman is the detective on the case investigating the kidnapping. Mary Steenburgen plays his long-suffering wife and Danny Devito is the recovering mental patient, still struggling with his OCD.
