That rare WW2 movie from the 1940s that focuses more on character development and camaraderie instead of action scenes and fighting. It looks and sounds like everything was filmed on a set anyway so they probably could not afford to do much. The cast is strong and the setting is suitably claustrophobic. But it does feel too much like something you'd see onstage instead of the big screen and it's rather distracting sometimes.
