Robert Altman's use of improv and naturalistic filmmaking gives this gambling film a sort of inspired energy that makes it both fun and engaging.

Oh, it means nothing does it? The story of a compulsive gambler. Several of the actors and even the extras were gamblers to give it that real feel.
