A startlingly terrifying documentary by newcomer Josh Fox, "GasLand" explores science and fear surrounding this wonderful new energy source: Natural Gas. What people don't understand about its 40% cleaner burning is that the methods of extraction are much more highly volatile than what most surmise. Josh seems to have no political or financial gain in his quest for truth, just a simple and powerful curiosity for the preservation of our Earth's natural resources and about his own home, which sits on one of the largest natural gas resevoirs in the country. Oh yeah, screw you Dick Cheney.

This documentary film is convicting and infuriating. It takes a very matter-of-fact approach to researching and exposing the dangers and corruption behind gas companies and drives its point home with impossible-to-ignore interviews and facts.

"Fracking fluids" is my new favorite phrase. Unfortunately fracking fluids are actually highly dangerous yet allegedly vital elements in the mining of natural gases. What's more is they're perfectly legal and subject to no professional inspection. This is the main focus of the amusing, depressing, concerning documentary GasLand.

Josh Fox doesn't seem to consider himself a filmmaker, but nevertheless that is the position into which he was thrusted while trying to discover more information on a lease offer for his home that he received from a natural gas company. What he discovered was that there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people across the country who are negatively effected by gas drilling.
