"Devil" isn't scary, disturbing, or mysterious. It's tedious, boring, and cheap-looking.

Just how good do you think a movie about a bunch of people trapped in an elevator with the devil can really be? If you think it's going to suck then you're right! This movie SUCKED & I think the only reason I watched it from beginning to end was so that I didn't waste the $1 I spent renting it from Redbox

"Devil" by Yojimbo

Five strangers are trapped in a lift and when one of the occupants is attacked it becomes increasingly obvious that there is a killer in their midst. Based on a story by M. Night Shyamalan, Devil is a hokey supernatural chiller that successfully uses paranoia and suspense to beef up a rather slight and silly premise. A little like a satanic Phone Booth, the occupants are coached by a watching detective as he desperately tries to save them before time runs out and at 75 minutes, it's economically told with a minimum of fuss. It's the kind of film that could've been a total dud in the wrong hands, but thanks to some deft direction and creative photography it's actually an entertaining slice of Twilight Zone inspired nonsense that doesn't outstay its welcome.

The devil likes elevators

Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. What should be a really great movie turned out to be just 'okay' mainly because the direction. The direction was decent at best, there was too much explaining of the plot and not enough letting it unfold naturally. Plus, the twist at the end wasn't even there. Don't waste your time seeing it in the theatre, this is definitely a rental.
One thing I don't get is why they named the movie devil? The movie would have been better if you didn't know right off the bat that the devil was in the elevator with them.
On a personal note, I hate narration in movies when it isn't needed. This movie narrated things that didn't need to be there and may have been better if it wasn't for that aspect. Also the very end was fairly predictable and …

I have no confidence in this movie. I am very sure it will suck.

I'll'll definitely give it a look. Knowing Shyamalan, it'll turn out that the actual elevator or someone's briefcase in the elevator is the Devil. Something crazy and assinine.
