Having not read the books, I still don't know what they cut/added/changed for the film. That being said, I really enjoyed the extended cameos (Nathan Fillion as Hermes, Stanley Tucci as Mr. D aka Dionysus) than the main characters. They leave things open for another sequel, but like the Chronicles of Narnia series, this is most likely going to fade out - which is too bad, because this is really good way to introduce mythology to the masses - but it just doesn't stand out enough in the YA world to make an impact.

Sean bean was not in this movie just because he found out that he is not going to die in this movie. This movie was okay. The visual effect's are a bit cartoonist and the final battle felt a bit short.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 12/11/2013
From the very beginning we are introduced to a myriad of plots, preachy dialogues (ranging from parenting, watching what we eat, friendships, competitiveness, brotherhood first impressions and our destiny) and then later bombarded by countless characters and creatures that would confuse your head instead of being entertained. The pathetic cheesy one-liners and scenes doesn't help either. The antagonist's build-up was impressive and yet only had little screen-time only to focus on the third installment in the conclusion. Though not entirely bad since the special effects looked authentic, action/thrilling sequences kept the pace going while the eyeless driver during the taxi drive provided some subtle humor. Admittedly haven't read the books much-like The Potter films, this reviewer …
