Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 12/11/13
From the very beginning we are introduced to a myriad of plots, preachy dialogues (ranging from parenting, watching what we eat, friendships, competitiveness, brotherhood first impressions and our destiny) and then later bombarded by countless characters and creatures that would confuse your head instead of being entertained. The pathetic cheesy one-liners and scenes doesn't help either. The antagonist's build-up was impressive and yet only had little screen-time only to focus on the third installment in the conclusion. Though not entirely bad since the special effects looked authentic, action/thrilling sequences kept the pace going while the eyeless driver during the taxi drive provided some subtle humor. Admittedly haven't read the books much-like The Potter films, this reviewer feels there were more to offer from the novels than the big screen which is usually the case. Overall, this critic enjoyed the first, this sequel was decent and hopefully they improve on the third.
