We get four different stories taking place in Rome, but only the Woody Allen and Jesse Eisenberg ones strike any interest, and even those are quite conflicted.

Much better than Midnight in Paris. Though I don't care for Page or Eisenberg, Baldwin and Allen more than make up for it. If you haven't been to Rome, you may like it less than me, but if you have, definitely check it out. Not bad for a Woody Allen film.

To Rome With Love bietet keine Überraschungen oder grössere Aufregung, dafür aber typisches Allen Vergnügen, dass bei ihm fast als Abonement erhältlich ist. Der New Yorker, der angeblich Manhattan nicht verlassen kann, dreht das vierte Mal in Folge in einer europäischen Stadt und führt Rom so vor, als ob Allen es als beflissener Tourist besucht hätte. Die Episoden, die Allen hier erzählt, sind zwar zusammen geschnitten, aber nicht ineinander übergreifend. Drei von ihnen sind recht amüsant und charmant! Das Beste am Film sind die Stars, die mitspielen. Scheinbar will in und ausserhalb Hollywoods jeder mit ihm arbeiten, wenn auch nur für eine Woche! Allen benutzt ihre Images, führt sie vor, wie alte Bekannte und kann sich so eine Menge an Charakterisierungen in seinem Drehbuch …
