I didn't know anything about Abramovic, other than she was a performance artist. Self-titled 'grandmother of performance art'. But whether you find her art profound or absurd, one can't deny that she is a fascinating subject. This is a wonderfully made documentary studying Abramovic the artist and the person, and art in general. It's surprisingly powerful at times, occassionally shocking as well, and I couldn't take my eyes off of her. One of the best documentaries of the year. (NR- graphic nudity, self-destructive violent images, and language.)
