Plot: A BBC mini-series based on Jane Austen's 1813 novel of the same name, Pride and Prejudice centres around Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters: Jane, Mary, Kitty and Lydia. When charismatic and eligible bachelor Mr Bingley moves into the neighbourhood, he brings along his proud and condescending friend, Mr Darcy. While Bingley and Jane Bennet become close, Darcy has trouble adapting to the social graces of the countryside and his manners do not endear him to the locals, least of all Elizabeth.

So begins one of my favorite books of all time, and to date I have not seen a better film or television adaptation of it than this mini-series. The role of Mr Darcy is what made Colin Firth a household name, but it was Jennifer Ehle's portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet is what ultimately made me fall in love with this series. She played Lizzie with the lively good humour that the character is known for. Their chemistry is evident from the moment Mr Darcy first looks at Elizabeth and remains constant through all six episodes.
The supporting cast is great, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful; the first shot of Pemberley alone is gorgeous. All in all it's a …
