'Big Eyes' tells the real-life story of artist Margaret Keane. You can tell there's an affection for the story through the writing. Even though many moments borderline on the superficial, the care for Margaret's character and her injustice is always prevalent. In fact, that is the driving force behind the film's emotion. Her turmoil from the domination by her husband over a decade-long timespan is the main focus. I felt that more could've been with the husband character other than a slow reveal and questionable villain turn. The third act has him going a bit over-the-top, incorporating a scene with an out of place thriller vibe and courtroom scene finale played too much for laughs. The inconsistent tone with his character made the ending a little less satifying. Consistently …

Tim Burton is known for the surreal-like film "Edward Scissorhands" and other strange curiosities such as "Beetlejuice" and "Mars Attack!". This time he follows a more realistic path with this biographical film "Big Eyes" about the sad life of Margaret Keane. This artist from the early 60s is responsible for countless families to have several paintings (or copies) hanging in their house, with on it a sad child with a pair of unreal looking big eyes (usually with a tear). At first glance, this was just tacky "Holly Hobbie" -like teen art. But the truth is astonishing and brilliant at the same time. Tim Burton looks like he's going back to his roots of what made his films great from the first place. That's nice news I like to hear.

Tim Burton back in his glory days was the best. Releasing movies that turn out amazing or great, but something happened with Burton when he started directing remakes of classic movies or old TV shows. Yeah Tim made so pretty crappy movies in the 2000's such as: Plant of the Apes (2001), Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Alice in Wonderland and Dark shadows. At one point I was losing …
