Emotionally Exploitative

This film went a million different directions so it felt longer than it should have been. The first hour was darkly funny at times but the second hour crossed that line between dark comedy and emotional exploitation. After a certain tragedy, the audience is expected to be touched. I must admit I did fall for it at first but then after pondering over it, I felt like I was taken advantaged of. Not even one of my favourite underrated rising stars, Anton Yelchin, could save this film's narcissism. I almost wished that he didn't appear in it because it's too pretentious for its own good. It tried to be daring, tried to be different but I can't help but notice an emptiness (not the good kind like in "American Psycho") by the time the movie ended.
