Urban comedy gives the sense of how things would go down in a neighborhood such as this. It feels lived in, with easily identifiable people and situations. Most of the humor comes from the relatable every day feeling. One of Chris Tucker's funniest performances. Laid back easy entertainment.

Friday review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 07/28/2013
The story focuses on friends Craig (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker). Highlights were the onscreen connection of Cube and Tucker, screenplay, and direction. Tucker definitely shines and Cube shows some acting ability in a drama comedy/ Noteworthy lines include: "You win some, you lose some. But you live, you live to fight another day." and "The weed be lettin' you know..Evil lurks." On the weak-points, Bernie Mac was underutilized and the subplot prolonged the film. Soundtrack was apt but nothing special to make the movie more enticing. Overall, Friday has that aura of Barbershop, Cheech and Chong, Half Baked and Don't Be a Menace in South Central. What it lacks however, is the ability to watch it repeatedly and still retain that certain impact in making you laugh.
