Plot: Love blooms even in a warzone, so when Captain Henri Rochard, a French officer marries American Lieutenant Catherine Gates, she wants to take her husband home when her unit is recalled to the U.S. Provisions and protocols are in place for soldiers to take spouses home to America, but they don't account for possible reversals in gender roles. Thus ensues a hilarious mess, as "Mrs. Gates" battles red tape and unconventional accomodations in order to remain with his wife. -- Gingerfilms

Amusing war-time farce featuring an on-form Cary Grant as a french officer who is classed as a war bride by US military red tape. All the usual cross gender gags and misunderstandings ensue, but Grant's easy-going charm makes it a cut above the usual lightweight rom com.
