Plot: It's late in the season and it hasn't rained yet.the people of a small Indian village in Victorian India hope to be excused from paying the crippling tax that their British rulers have imposed. The over-confident British officer in charge, then challenges them to a game of cricket, a game totally unknown to them. If they win, they get their wish; if they lose, however, the increased tax burden will destroy their lives. I'm not usually a fan of sports films, but mixed with interesting period detail, beautifully shot locations and a political spin, this works really rather well. And it deserves applause for doing the impossible and making a game of cricket interesting.
