I read multiple reviews on IMDB, just so I could try to figure out what the fuss was about. It moved way too slow for me. What some people thought was romantic, I thought was unpractical and stupid. That being said, I love the two main actors as well as the director. I still have to wonder why it clicked for some people.

As powerful as it (probably) was 40 years ago...

I'd hate to know what Lelouch's personal life was like because considering the depth of this, he probably had an excessive amount of troublesome relationships. There's a few technical choices, specifically the music that remind me very much of Punch-Drunk Love but I think this may even be more successful in the portraits it paints. For the first twenty minutes, the interaction between the two main characters is just completely awkward. There's moments throughout the movie much like this. When we see them meet on the beach it's one of most rewarding moments I've seen in any film ever. For the moments that are tedious and boring, they are made up for with the ones that tender and intimate. I'd say the sex scene is probably right up there with the one in Don't Look Now but the editing isn't …
