Slick 90s thriller about a vengeful and greedy husband (Douglas) who plots the murder of his unfaithful wife (Paltrow)-with the help of her equally devious lover (Mortenson). The plot is essentially a condensed version of 'DIAL M FOR MURDER' with a dash of 'STRANGERS ON A TRAIN' for good measure. Michael Douglas can do these movies in his sleep but he's always fun to watch in these types of movies. Gwyneth Paltrow is suitably vulnerable as Douglas' wife. Viggo Mortenson is good as the morally ambiguous lover. Balancing out this intricate triangle of deceit is the upstanding detective (an excellent David Suchet) determined to connect the dots. It owes too much to the best of Alfred Hitchcock's classics, but it's entertaining enough.

One of my favorite thrillers. I've seen it twice and enjoyed it the 2nd time too even though I knew what happens. Great re-make of Hitchcock's DIAL M FOR MURDER.

Instead of trying to get even with the artist, Douglas hires him to murder Paltrow for a half million dollars! And he accepts!! It looks like a perfect murder, but it`s not, because it fails.
A real good start that leaves the mind buzzing! Will he do it? Is it a part of a deeper scam? Is Paltrow in on it? I must admit that it kept me watching and constantly being caught off-guard for the next surprise.
This film keeps you at the edge of your seat and Douglas' portrayal of a heartless blackmailer is …
