Han's (Jet Li) brother was murdered and escapes from prison. He accidentally bumps into Trish (Aaliyah) and discovers that his brother last contacted her store. Some of the humor felt awkward, some scenes lengthy and had nothing to do with the plot (football sequence) and drama not as believable. Good points would be the action scenes and camera shot when somebody is killed and the bones of their bother was like x-rayed to show the effects of their death. Han kicking more than 3 people while in the air with precision and balance was matrix-like, unfortunately this is a crime drama not a sci-fi flick. Romeo Must Die has its moments despite the story of vengeance of a family member, gang wars and a small twist in the conclusion.

One of Jet Li's more forgettable films.

This movie is something of a mess. The action sequences, especially those with star Jet Li kicking and pummeling his way through his enemies, are high energy and watchable, but the movie is frequently derailed by lengthy scenes of exposition and so-called character development, all of which devolve into silliness and cliches.
