Brilliant look into the recent Australian history

When you know that this is based on the true memoirs of one still living respectable Australian writer, you see the movie through different eyes -- because the tale told here is terribly sad and disturbing. It does not even matter that his family was an immigrant one, because their struggles as such weren't so accentuated, unless their being poor counts, because the support of the others and the willingness to work they had. The issues they had were mostly in their minds - especially of Gaita's mother, whose mental inconsistencies and irresponsibility eventually wounded everybody who loved her. The performances of Eric Bana and Kodi Smit-McPhee as tormented father and son were brilliant, as well as the other actors. I wouldn't know about the accents, and all that credibility stuff with …
