A strong film with a tremendous performance by Bette Midler. I had avoided this film for years thinking it wasn't a big deal, but Midler's performance is incredible. Filming the concert scenes as actual concerts adds the authenticity of the film about a singer who's life is falling apart due to drug abuse, alcohol, and a self destructive behavior. A great soundtrack adds to this story as well. It was released over 30 years ago but still holds up well.
