Got the trailer live on the site! Despite it being only 88 seconds - it's possibly the best 88 seconds of the year. The prequels left a bad taste for everyone (though, personally, I didn't take as much offense as some) but we'll see if having some fresh talent makes it as memorable as the original trilogy.Still not exactly sure what the advantage of lightsaber hilt is.... but damn, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Anticipation level +10 (million).

teaser tralier looks interesting. I'm hoping this film is good and up to the standard of the 1st 3... ive still never managed to get through the last 3 star wars. it has to be better than those just by the sound of it , it already is

And we have a title now - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force AwakensAnd they already had a wrap party, so I believe principal shooting is done - I'm trying to stay away from too many spoilers, but I'm sure I'll know everything about the movie before it comes out anyway.

I was pretty stoked when I heard Johnson was directing VIII. I like him a lot more then Abrams. Looper and Brick are both modern classics, and The Brothers Bloom is one of my biggest guilty pleasures. He'll do a great job.

The Millennium Falcon apparently tried to kill Han Solo - so Harrison Ford will be sidelined up to six months while he recovers from a broken leg - no word on whether this will affect the release date, but early indications are that Oscar Isaac's still-secret character is going to get expanded screen time while Ford recuperates. Also, early indications are the film will feature Mandalorian (aka Boba Fett's character for those who aren't intimate with Star Wars) warriors and Sith Witches (who are featured in the Clone Wars animated series as well as some Expanded Universe material). Finally, Episode VIII and IX are going to be directed by Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) instead of J.J. Abrams.

I just saw that Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie (aka Brienne of Tarth for Game of Thrones fans) have been added to the cast. And that news is extremely welcoming as things keep getting better. As long as Abrams keeps out excessive lens flare (such an old joke by now), I think the he can handle the pressure.

The cast really does look fantastic. I have mixed feelings about J.J. Abrams directing since I didn't much like that last Star Trek movie, but I'll probably enjoy watching it regardless of the quality because, just like everyone else, I'm super-nostalgic for Star Wars (I enjoy the new Hobbit movies for the exact same reason.) It'll be interesting though to see exactly how the whole thing turns out.

Star Wars Episode VII Cast (so far - along with their most well-known roles)John Boyega (Attack the Block)Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness)Adam Driver (Girls)Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis)Andy Serkis (LOTR, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, King Kong)Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1, 2)Max von Sydow (The Seventh Seal, Pelle the Conquerer, The Exorcist)Returning cast: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels.Details about the roles are still to come, though the two leads (Boyega and Ridley) will most likely portray the children of the Skywalker, Solo families. Driver has been rumored to play the lead villain while Serkis (due to his work in mo-cap) will mostly likely play a similar role. I'm still kind of bummed they completely threw out all the Expanded Universe material, but, hey, at least I won't know what's coming now. Fingers crossed things turn out for the better.
