Screenwriting at its finest
Does it get any better than this. Possibly the greatest example of screenwriting in film history. Perfectly cast. Could Nicholson, Dunaway, and Huston be any better? Throwback to the great film noir period. How can anyone come up with such a plot? Water and power / family and incest. "Forget about it Jake, it's Chinatown"....One in a million!

Throw in the most consistent director of "Black Hawk Down" and an unbelievable cast comprising "Gosford Park", "Ghost World", "Ocean's Eleven", and "13 …

The first list that I have posted on this site. Will continue to post by year, by decade, by genre, and eventually all-time...2000 was a very fun year highlighted by multiple Oscars for the "Spartacus" ripoff "Gladiator", but the film was done well and very enjoyable. The most underappreciated film "Wonder Boys" was filmed in my home town by one of my favorite directors. Christopher Guest continued to show off his talents with his friends with the delightful "Best in Show" and Joan Allen, Jeff …
