In the beginning, we are introduced to Griffin Keyes and his girlfriend Stephanie, played by Leslie Bibb. They are riding on a horse on the beach, where Griffin has made an elaborate setup to propose to Stephanie, who turns him down because she is embarrassed that Griffin is a zookeeper.
Fast forward five years later Griffin still works at the zoo and loves the animals he takes of. The animals fear that Griffin will take another job when Stephanie, his superficial ex-girlfriend returns with renewed faith that Griffin has potential to be the man that she wants - a man who is not employed as a zoo keeper. The animals decide to break their code of silence in order to help out their loving zookeeper in an effort to keep him from leaving. They devise plans with the intentions of getting Stephanie to fall in love with the zoo and Griffin.
At the same time, Griffin has an endearing friendship with co-worker Kate, played by Rosario Dawson, a zoology specialist at the zoo who likes Griffin for who he is and likes the fact that he loves his job. Ken Jeong was his usual excellent self as the best friend of Griffin and their moments on screen are truly rib tickling.
The animals' wild advice is the most entertaining aspect of the movie. We have Nick Nolte as the voice of a gorilla named Bernie, Adam Sandler as the voice of a monkey named Donald, Sylvester Stalone as the Lion and Cher as the Lioness.
Yes, the plot is predictable but Zookeeper will provide a few grins
