22 year old hat designer Charlotte (Winona Ryder) catches the 48 year old New York restaurateur Will (Richard Gere’s) roving eye one Autumn evening in New York City. The result of their instant attraction is a tempestuous affair although Will and Charlotte keep on saying that they are wrong for each other because he is old and she is young and dying of a rare heart condition. Admittedly Charlotte is desperate for any kind of romance because of her terminal heart condition but Will proves he cannot be trusted when he does the inevitable and cheats on her despite his so-called love for her. Needless to say what disappointed me was how she immediately forgave him. Although that did not creep me out as much as finding out that Will was romantically involved with her mother as well. (It's implied that Will does not sleep with her mother but is it just me thinking why would you waste your last few months on a man you just can't trust?
