Review: Madagascar 3

Unlike some people, notably critics, I think the Madagascar series is very good. I thought the first film was terrific; original, clever, and fun. Madagascar 2, while not being as good as the first, still had the charms and the laughs that made the first film so good. Fortunately, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is a very fun movie. It's a good installment into the series, which remains lively and enjoyable. This third chapter may even be better than the first.
I'll begin by saying that the movie looks amazing. The shots are nice and well-framed. The animation is lively and colorful. This is the best looking film of the series. I didn't see the movie in 3D, which I regret because apparently the 3D is very well done, but even in 2D the colorful animation and energetic storytelling is good enough to satisfy the audience.
Madagascar 3 has the action, the fun, and the comedy that'll keep the young kids entertained as well as the adults who see the film. Yes, the movie is very funny. I'm 15 years-old and I think these films are pretty f*cking funny. A lot of the laughs come from the penguins, who continue to go through with little schemes that may have an impact on the animals both positively and negatively. The four main animals: Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) are all, of course, back and do what they do best, as well as some new animals that bring some wit and charm. The villain, Captain Chantal Dubois (Frances McDormand), is also funny as she searches for Alex the Lion to obtain his head that she can mount on her wall. A bit graphic, don't ya' think? But, the funniest element in the film is this romance between King Julien and a circus bear that seriously had me laughing like hell.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is energetic, colorful, lively, and entertaining enough to dazzle both the kids and the adults. There's always something fun in the film that everybody can enjoy.
