Apocalypse Now is just about the best war film ever made. It isn’t all about combat, killing and blowing things up; it’s about the effect that war has on people.
It’s a harrowing, mesmerising, poetic piece that is gruelling and disturbing, but also profound and rewarding.
If you're ever in doubt as to whether or not filmmaking can legitimately be called an art form, watch this movie. You won't be in doubt afterwards.
